If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a bit MIA this summer when it comes to this blog—but for good reason. Brandon’s dad has owned a home building business since the ’90s and just recently Brandon and I have gotten extremely involved and rebranded the entire business. From building a website and creating + growing our social media (Facebook, Instagram), to securing clients and doing all the design work for the business, I’m putting in easily another 40+ hours per week on top of my current day job. Something in my life had to give a little and it was this blog. But the best part about being so busy is being able to do what I love. I can’t believe how much I’ve fallen in LOVE with this job. It’s another way for me to be creative and collaborate with clients to create their dream home. From flooring and woodwork to exterior design and colors, I help bring each client’s vision to life. The finished product is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever experienced in my life. It’s a tangible accomplishment that means so much. With that said, I have a fun announcement! I am super excited to announce that I am relaunching my blog in the next few weeks with a redesign I’ve been working on for MONTHS. The new design will include more home design, our Oakstone Homes projects, beauty, travel and more. Let’s just call it lifestyle topics.
I’m super excited to share one of our latest renovations. We started working on this project in February, the week after returning from our wedding and finished in May. Our clients—the owners of MB Interior Design—moved into this home in late December with plans of renovating the entire house. They saw that this ’80s, Honey Oak home had great bones and serious potential. Not to mention it was located on 11 acres in Ankeny, which is unheard of in town! After the renovation, we were lucky enough to be featured in Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. Check out the feature HERE to read about the renovation more in depth. We are currently working on two spec homes, two custom homes and two major renovations, which I can’t wait to share with you. Stay tuned!
