Happy Tuesday! What? I’m posting two full days in a row? Yep, crazy I know—get use to it. Today is the last day recapping my Northern California trip, so I’m sharing some of my favorite places in Sonoma and Sausalito. After all this reminiscing, I already am itching to plan my next vacation. So far nothing plan beside North Carolina next Summer. Where should I go over the next 8 months? On my list: BANFF, Greece, Italy, Colorado, Utah, Florida, Arizona and my mom did just invite me to Mexico. I need your suggestions!
Onto California…Another spot on the top of my must-see list was Fremont Diner in Sonoma, and for good reason. We headed there for an late lunch before leaving to head back South. This is another place that is just too cute, plus the food is amazing. Don’t expect to go on a diet though, the food is fried and delicious. Oh and when you go, definitely get a milkshake. When we went, I thought it was he perfect excuse to pull out my new flare overalls. I think I’ll be living in these all fall.
Of course, we couldn’t leave Wine Country without stopping at one last winery. I’m so glad we did because this ended up being one of my absolute favorites. Like I mentioned in my last post, I like small, family-owned spots that welcome you in like family. Cline Cellars was that place for me. They even had free tastings and a free winery tours—I recommend doing both! Bri, Brandon, and I bought a few of our favorite wines from the tasting, grabbed a cheese plate and sat on their wraparound porch chatting the afternoon away.
Side note: These images aren’t technically in the order of our day but I had to share where we went for breakfast that day. When in Sonoma eat breakfast or lunch at the Sunflower Cafe. Just make sure you eat out back in the garden area. Not only are the lattes amazing, the mimosas are jumbo and the food, so good! It’s truly one of the most beautiful spots to eat in the area. A real must-see!
After spending a few days in Wine Country, our trip was winding down to only two days left. On our second to last night, we stayed in Sausalito, which is just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Fran. It’s a cute, little tourist town with lots of places to eat, walk, and shop. It sits right on the water so all of the views are spectacular. We stayed right on the main street at Casa Madrona. It’s a beautiful hotel with large rooms and huge bathrooms. That’s my kind of place. After almost a week of nonstop travel, we were pretty tired so we grabbed some dinner at Poggio Trattoria and called it a night.
The next day we woke up early, checked out, and headed to the Golden Gate Bridge. My oh my was it windy. I would have liked to of taken more pictures but the wind wasn’t exactly cooperating with my hair. You should see the outtake of pictures. It was actually pretty cold at the lookout spot so I bundle up in my new favorite Tart Multi-Way Wrap. Make sure to check out Tart’s new fall collection! Oh and here is a code for you to get 15% off your first order: FALLKATELYN15.
After admiring the beauty for the bridge we headed into San Fran for our last day. We drove straight to La Taqueria to test out their famous burritos and tacos. Let’s just say, yes, it’s well worth the hype. Then we checked out Lombard Street, went shopping at Goyard, stopped by the Painted Ladies, and drove around to see as much as we could in the time we had. We checked into the Fairmont San Francisco, which is absolutely beautiful! When you go though, expect to spend a pretty penny. The hotel was huge so we stayed there for the rest of the evening to eat, drink a few bottles of Veuve and chat about our amazing trip. We had an EARLY 5:30am flight because I had to get back for Go Blog Social. Let’s just say this is a trip I’ll never forget!
