This post has been a long time coming. We started on this modern farmhouse home last summer, and I slowly put a lot of my heart and design touches in it. This project was kind of my baby in 2016, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. This home was a spec home, which means we built it for someone else to buy it. This house ended up selling midway through the build and turned into more of a custom home in the end. It was super fun to work with our clients to combine my vision for this home with their vision.
As the Design Director for Oakstone Homes, I pay most attention to the details—the fixtures, the woodwork, the colors. One of the things I focus the most on most is finding the perfect flooring. For this house I did a ton of research and fell in love with Hallmark Floors. All of their collections are gorgeous! The wood flooring in this home is by Hallmark Floors from their Alta Vista Hardwood Collection and is crafted by genuine French White Oak . I’m a sucker for anything French White Oak. The color is Malibu, but one of the things I love most, is that the collection known for its length and width. Who does love wide plank wood flooring? The wood is cut and wire brushed 100% by hand, which is such a unique feature that you don’t see anywhere else. I think I’m going to try the color Laguna in our next spec home and of course, when Brandon and I built our next house in the next year or so, we will definitely be putting Hallmark Floors in our home.
In the home, the front door leads to a custom black iron stair rail that I designed, shiplap walls & farmhouse lights. The open-concept main floor has 20ft, vaulted, barn wood ceiling with a living room, kitchen and dining combo. Another one of my favorite features is all of the natural light that floods in from the oversized Pella windows. I could go on and on about this gorgeous space, but I’ll let the pictures below do the talking.
