When you get an email to receive a few complimentary spa treats, you don’t turn that down! Am I right? I am excited to share with you my experience of receiving two treatments at the Koch Facial Plastic Surgery & Spa in West Des Moines. Koch has a variety of treatments available to choose from; the two treatments I underwent were the HydroFacial and BBL. I’d seen other bloggers get them on SnapChat and was always curious. I’m one of those people where actions speak louder than words, so I just had to try these Med Spa treatments for myself. So what the heck are these things and what did I think of them? Keep reading!
The HydraFacial treatment done at Koch uses a system called Vortex-Fusion to help cleanse, exfoliate, and apply hyaluronic acid, peptides, antioxidants, and other ingredients in the deeper layers of your skin. Each HydroFacial is tailored to the problems and needs of the client, through a consult before the treatment. This is a 30-minute treatment that is done in a 4-step process. The first step is a Vortex-Exfoliation, removing the outermost layer of skin. The second step is a Vortex-Peel, a serum that helps to exfoliate skin, reduce congestion, and improve the skins overall radiance. The third step is a Vortex-Extraction, which is a gentle suction that unclogs pores and removes impurities. Lastly you will receive a Vortex-Fusion which is a nutrient based serum that penetrates multiple layers of skin for overall skin improvement. This treatment is one that can be done once to target a certain problem or done multiple times to help keep your skin feeling its best.
As soon as I stepped into the Koch office, I knew I was going to have an amazing experience. Their space is gorgeous! I got to work with Elise who was so great to chat with and did such a great job of explaining everything she was doing. My consultant determined that my skin was on the drier side and my pores where a bit congested. It was really cool to see her tailor the facial with unique serums and tools to help improve the look and feel of my face and décolletage. I was very impressed with the amount of professionalism I felt when undergoing this treatment. The results were pretty crazy. To my surprise, I noticed a difference in my skin right away. My skin was glowing and felt so moisturized and had never felt so clean and bright. I totally recommend this treatment.
For my second procedure, I had the BBL treatment. BBL is a light treatment that rejuvenates the skin of sun damage, age spots, freckles, and more. This treatment heats the deeper layers of your skin, causing the damaged cells to produce new collagen. Producing new collagen is what causes those sunspots and freckles to diminish greatly. This is a painless treatment that takes away those spots, freckles, or more for sometime, but is not permanent. Usually this treatment is done multiple times when freckles or spots comeback.
When I heard the word laser, I was a bit hesitant but extremely curious. Having freckle all my life, I’ve dealt with uneven skin tone, which has always been one of my biggest skin concerns. It’s not that I didn’t like my freckles, but I felt like they were aging me a bit. LOL at some point cute freckles turn into dark marks as you age. I’ll be honest, the treatment feels like a rubber band is snapping your face. It’s not terribly painful, but more or less made me jump every time she fired the trigger. The treatment lasted for about 15-20 minutes and I just laid there in a very comfy, plush chair. These results were extremely incredible. Elise told me my freckles or dark marks would appear very visible right after the treatment, surface to the top of my skin, create a coffee-grind-like appearance, and then literally fall off my face. That’s —to a “T”—exactly what happened. After about a week, my freckle fell off my face. It was the craziest thing. I would recommend doing this treatment in the fall or winter months though, because if you’re in the summer sun, your freckles can come back.
