Summer is our busiest time of the year and this summer we’re crowning as our busiest yet. Brandon and I are constantly running around checking on job, meeting with clients, doing walk throughs with electricians or plumbers and so on. Our to-do list right now is never ending. We’re working about 15-16 hour days, and seriously feeling the gilt of neglecting the pups by not playing as much or taking them to the lake to swim. But the one thing we do always keep constant in their lives is what we feed them, and that’s something we’ll NEVER neglect.
Summer is my favorite time of the year! It means running around until late, days at the beach, backyard BBQs, grilling out, and an overwhelming amount of guacamole. At the end of a long week the thought of sipping a cold one while lying out at the pool, or golfing with my hubby Brandon gets me through. Oh, and I cant forget the Farmer’s Market, weekend trips and all the patios we can sit at. Summer may be one of the busiest times of the year for us, but I never forget to make room for the fun stuff.

Summer is practically here in Iowa and if you’re like me, everything you’re buying or loving is white—white tops, white linen dresses, white, white, white! I wore this super cute white top yesterday for Mother’s Day. Brandon and I took his mom to Snus Winery yesterday in Madrid. If you didn’t already know this, red wine and white clothing don’t always go hand in hand. That’s when Tide comes into play!

I’m sharing #NUTRO™ in my life as part of a NUTRO™ sponsored series for Socialstars™. If you haven’t noticed, our pups are all over the blog and our social spaces. They’re our babies! We love taking them to the lake to swim, playing fetch in our backyard, or taking them to my parent’s farm to …
Drumroll please….It’s finally here, my favorite paint post! I’ve never had more requests for a blog post in my 5 years of blogging. I had clients, blog readers, SnapChatters, Facebookers, fellow designers, and just so many people ask me to share my favorite paint colors. Over the past few years I’ve had my ups and …
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. Brandon and I headed to Omaha for a 3-day weekend at my parents to celebrate the holiday and my mom’s birthday on Saturday. My parents just put in a pool, so we spent the weekend helping with landscaping and odds and ends to get ready to officially open it. I can’t wait.
I’ve never been one to a clean freak about my cars, until I met my husband. He hates it when the car is dirty and his car cleanliness has officially rubbed off on me. We both use our vehicles every day to run our businesses. I’m constantly in my car running errands, meeting with vendors, and chauffeuring around clients.
I want to thank all the people who texted, emailed, messaged, and called about Tuesday’s post. I am so glad that so many people could relate to what I am going through and it definitely makes me want to continue to share my healthy lifestyle transformation with you.
Dramatic title, right? I thought so too, but it’s true. I really needed a life change in the way I took care of myself. As I’ve gotten older a lot of things have changed in the sense that I’ve aged, graduated high school, then college, took on more responsibility, started a business, work my butt off 100 hours a week, but somewhere during that time, I stopped taking care of myself and brushed off things like manicures, workouts, healthy eating, hair masks, me time, etc. as low priority items.
If you’re like the Cheek family, you’re ready for the winter weather to go away and warm spring sunshine to finally show face. After that last blanketing of snow over spring break, we were definitely feeling the winter blues. If you didn’t know, we are serious outdoorsy people—especially with the pups.
If you didn’t know, my favorite color is white. I love how simple and fresh it is in a home, but I hate how easily it shows dirt, especially when you own a home building business and have two pups that love to play in the mud. Cue the muddy boots and dirty paws!
If you didn’t know by now, Brandon and I are serious animal lovers. We have two dogs, Meyer who is a 4-year-old Shihpoo, and Dash, a 1-year-old English Cream Retriever. They both love playing with toys and because of that, we spoil them often—especially when it’s a day like National Love Your Pet Day happening on February 20th.
This post has been a long time coming. We started on this modern farmhouse home last summer, and I slowly put a lot of my heart and design touches in it. This project was kind of my baby in 2016, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. This home was a spec home, which means we built it for someone else to buy it.
Last week was officially my final week working in the corporate world, and I couldn’t be more terrified but excited. There’s definitely a different kind of pressure when you and your husband own your own businesses and everything depends on that. I have a feeling that over the next few months Brandon and I will have our heads down working like crazy animals to focus on building a strong foundation for our futures.
It was a very busy begin to this new year and I never really got around to thinking about what my resolutions might be. Even though I hate the world resolution, I’ll use it for lack of a better word. This weekend’s ice storm has given me a little down time to reflect on what 2016 looked like and the changes I want to make in 2017.
