Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. Brandon and I headed to Omaha for a 3-day weekend at my parents to celebrate the holiday and my mom’s birthday on Saturday. My parents just put in a pool, so we spent the weekend helping with landscaping and odds and ends to get ready to officially open it. I can’t wait.
I’ve never been one to a clean freak about my cars, until I met my husband. He hates it when the car is dirty and his car cleanliness has officially rubbed off on me. We both use our vehicles every day to run our businesses. I’m constantly in my car running errands, meeting with vendors, and chauffeuring around clients.
I want to thank all the people who texted, emailed, messaged, and called about Tuesday’s post. I am so glad that so many people could relate to what I am going through and it definitely makes me want to continue to share my healthy lifestyle transformation with you.
Dramatic title, right? I thought so too, but it’s true. I really needed a life change in the way I took care of myself. As I’ve gotten older a lot of things have changed in the sense that I’ve aged, graduated high school, then college, took on more responsibility, started a business, work my butt off 100 hours a week, but somewhere during that time, I stopped taking care of myself and brushed off things like manicures, workouts, healthy eating, hair masks, me time, etc. as low priority items.
If you’re like the Cheek family, you’re ready for the winter weather to go away and warm spring sunshine to finally show face. After that last blanketing of snow over spring break, we were definitely feeling the winter blues. If you didn’t know, we are serious outdoorsy people—especially with the pups.
If you didn’t know, my favorite color is white. I love how simple and fresh it is in a home, but I hate how easily it shows dirt, especially when you own a home building business and have two pups that love to play in the mud. Cue the muddy boots and dirty paws!
If you didn’t know by now, Brandon and I are serious animal lovers. We have two dogs, Meyer who is a 4-year-old Shihpoo, and Dash, a 1-year-old English Cream Retriever. They both love playing with toys and because of that, we spoil them often—especially when it’s a day like National Love Your Pet Day happening on February 20th.
This post has been a long time coming. We started on this modern farmhouse home last summer, and I slowly put a lot of my heart and design touches in it. This project was kind of my baby in 2016, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. This home was a spec home, which means we built it for someone else to buy it.
Last week was officially my final week working in the corporate world, and I couldn’t be more terrified but excited. There’s definitely a different kind of pressure when you and your husband own your own businesses and everything depends on that. I have a feeling that over the next few months Brandon and I will have our heads down working like crazy animals to focus on building a strong foundation for our futures.
It was a very busy begin to this new year and I never really got around to thinking about what my resolutions might be. Even though I hate the world resolution, I’ll use it for lack of a better word. This weekend’s ice storm has given me a little down time to reflect on what 2016 looked like and the changes I want to make in 2017.
Happy almost Christmas! We are finally headed to Omaha to spend the next few days at my parents house to celebrate the holiday. Brandon and I could really use a little comfy, cozy time with the fam bam to unwind after a crazy few weeks.
Christmas is just days away! I have one more day of work left and then it’s family and friends for the rest of the week. I can’t wait! If you’re like me and you’ve had a crazy December, then you’re house probably isn’t ready for holiday guests. This past weekend I ran around and picked up a few last-minute decor pieces to finish decorating our little space.
Christmas is officially less than one week away. I can’t believe I’m typing this. 2016 has flown by so fast. This time last year I was surprising Brandon with our new pup Dash. Raising Dash has been one of the highlights of the year—that and getting married. Dash and our other dog, Meyer, are always together and constantly following Brandon and I around, curious to see what we’re doing.
I am so, so excited to officially share my blog redesign. This is something that I’ve been working on for the last 8 months—on and off, when time allowed. My designer Vanessa from With Great Heart is amazing and has been such a trooper with all my questions and changes…
Happy Thursday! Long time, no post. I know, I know. But I’m excited to share today a little more in depth on why I’ve been so busy and neglecting my little piece of internet. If you haven’t read in previous posts, my husband owns a home building and renovation company that I’ve gotten very involved in…
If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a bit MIA this summer when it comes to this blog—but for good reason. Brandon’s dad has owned a home building business since the ’90s and just recently Brandon and I have gotten extremely involved and rebranded the entire business…
White Blouse | Jeans | Pink Roses | Spring Planter Box | Table | Bench | Chairs | Candle Sticks | Table Runner | Light Fixture Mother’s Day is right around the corner. Are you prepared? If not, I’m here to help. I love surprising my mom with something special this time of the year. …
Warmer weather is officially here meaning it’s time to switch out my decor for something a bit more cheerful. I’m currently obsessing over anything outdoors—patio furniture, pillows, cushions, umbrellas, lanterns, cafe lights and more. But of course my number one must is something that won’t break the bank. I’ve rounded up a few pieces I’m wanting to …
